Longview Lake
12 p.m.

This "unbearable" event is a unique opportunity to show your bravery as you support local Special Olympics athletes by plunging 24 times in 24 hours into the frigid winter waters. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Missouri. SOMO exists to provide year-round sports and training opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities and our athletes need you to get involved. Become a coach, volunteer, recruit a future athlete and learn how you can make a difference!

New this year: Use our social media toolkit to make this your greatest Plunge ever! The kit includes photos and pre-written social media posts. All you have to do is copy and paste! Note: Clicking the above link will trigger a zipped file download.

Participants must be at least 14 years old and raise a minimum of $2,500 by event day. The Polar Plunge is a project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run(R) for Special Olympics Missouri. Belton PD, KCPD and Lee's Summit PD are proud to host this event.

Polar Plunge is a family friendly event.  Special Olympics Missouri promotes inclusion as a way of life for not only our athletes but everyone at our events.  We reserve the right to ask anyone to alter/remove their costume if found offensive or harmful to those in attendance.
